Do not get me wrong, there are repercussions for sin, and there is a need for repentance. It is not hell, "the happiest place on earth." It was a place of torment and suffering which have not been completed, but it is not deep in the earth in a fiery pit, and the day will come when it no longer exists. God is just and fair, and make a deal with the unsaved. Good view of hell and torment you can see that the Apocrypha, the second book of Esdras, in verse 76.
English word hell comes from the Anglo-Saxon hel, or genitive helle, which means "hidden place", and Anglo-Saxon word helan, which means "to hide."
